Could it be that Clear Channel Communications has finally reached its high water mark, and is on its way back down to join some reality attuned to the U.S. Constition’s injunction that
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
“The military’s deployment within U.S. borders raises critical questions that must be answered,” said Jonathan Hafetz, staff attorney with the ACLU National Security Project. “What is the unit’s mission? What functions will it perform? And why was it necessary to deploy the unit rather than rely on civilian agencies and personnel and the National Guard? Given the magnitude of the issues at stake, it is imperative that the American people know the truth about this new and unprecedented intrusion of the military in domestic affairs.”
What if I knew our train was on the wrong track and it was heading for catastrophe? What if I KNEW it had already run two yellow lights and one red light and was heading straight into a head on collision with a freight train?
Sadly, in many respects, the Fourth Estate has become the fifth column of democracy, colluding with the powers that be in a culture of deception that subverts the thing most necessary to freedom, and that is the truth
So says Bill Moyers in this article at inthesetimes.com. Read it.
What do Ithink is going on? I think Bush and Cheney and whoever else is actually running the show in the Bush “administration” want to kill two birds, and perhaps thousands or millions of Iranians, with one stone.
The birds? An American Presidential election and the military entrenchment of a permanent Corporate fossil fuel dictatorship in control of Middle East natural resources and American military might.
The stone? A war – or at the very least a war fever in the American Corporate Media – in Iran, just in time for the American elections this fall.
Mr. Vice President, my sense of reality tells me that in 2000 you won the vote in Florida, and Bush won the count by ending the count before the votes were counted.
When the Supreme Court supported Bush, you acted to support the rule of law, and reluctantly conceded the election. Then, in 2004, you stood aside, opening an opportunity for another leader to emerge in the Democratic Party.
You have upheld the rule of law.
You have stood aside and made sure that you didn’t clog up the Democratic Party with your ego.
Now, in order to uphold the rule of law, I think you need to run for President.
The Assault on Reason is your platform. Be true to that book and you and the country will win, even if should you lose the election (or the count…).
Go Gore Go
