I really hope this is badly reported:

The United States, Israel’s main ally, had initially been expected to voted (sic) in line with the other 14 but Rice later became the sole abstention.

“In the night between Thursday and Friday, when the secretary of state wanted to lead the vote on a ceasefire at the Security Council, we did not want her to vote in favour,” Olmert said

“I said ‘get me President Bush on the phone’. They said he was in the middle of giving a speech in Philadelphia. I said I didn’t care. ‘I need to talk to him now’. He got off the podium and spoke to me.

“I told him the United States could not vote in favour. It cannot vote in favour of such a resolution. He immediately called the secretary of state and told her not to vote in favour.”

Is this real?  Did the Prime Minister of Israel really call George W. Bush like a dog, and did Bush really sit up and beg on cue?

Must be some mistake here.

Roger Cohen at the New York Times has a Biblical take on the state of our nation.

This resonates with me.  It truly does feel as though there has been a Divinely authorized plague loosed upon the USA during the rule of Emperor W. Bush.

Karen says it’s kinda like “What would Jesus do?”.

How would Bush vote?

Bush Wants McCain To Win. Bush will vote for McCain. That’s all we have to say to win.

If McCain is really the Republican nominee. But maybe he won’t be.

I’m thinking they’ll go with General Petraeus.

Then we’ll just have to say “Bush wants Petraeus to win”.

What do I think is going on? I think Bush and Cheney and whoever else is actually running the show in the Bush “administration” want to kill two birds, and perhaps thousands or millions of Iranians, with one stone.

The birds? An American Presidential election and the military entrenchment of a permanent Corporate fossil fuel dictatorship in control of Middle East natural resources and American military might.

The stone? A war – or at the very least a war fever in the American Corporate Media – in Iran, just in time for the American elections this fall.

I hope I’m wrong, but I’m probably right.

Just a bumper sticker I saw a while back..

I joke about this, but I fear that when it comes right down to it, George W. Bush will resist passing the ring along…unless he just pretends to pass it along to Petraeus or Condi or Jeb or McCain or whoever.

I fear he will not hand over power to anyone not thoroughly under the thumb of the broader Bush “family”.

This is a bad feeling.

OK – here’s a metaphor for our Nation’s invasion and occupation of Iraq. Oh, maybe not. In our case, we just flail around in the bush till either the bees are all dead or we’re we’re dying of shock.

Oh well.
